On 27 November 2019, a conference will be offered in French to the entire Marseille community at the Charve amphitheatre on the St Charles campus at 6pm. It will be presented by Professor Robert Zatorre of the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University.

Theme: From Perception to Pleasure: The Neuroscience of Music

In this lecture, Robert Zatorre will present research from his laboratory on the treatment of music in the brain. His lab uses brain imaging methods to better understand the neural circuits involved in the perception of sound in general and music in particular. Reward networks are also involved when you feel pleasure while listening to the music. This phenomenon is related to the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, a hypothesis supported by experiments with brain stimulation and pharmacological manipulation.
